National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health
The first week in May is National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week.
The National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health is an advocacy group that works on policies, legislation, services, and fundraising to improve the mental health of children.
On their site, you can:
- find a local chapter
- find information on Certified Parent Support Providers who can help provide peer support

Active Minds
Are you worried about your child going off to college? and what kinds of resources will be available?
The good news is that there are over 400 chapters of Active Minds, an organization dedicated to raising awareness and support for mental illness. See if there is a chapter at or close to a school your child is considering.

Glenn Close and mental health stigma
Glenn Close has a wonderful website called bring change 2 mind about ending mental illness. She was inspired by her sister’s mental illness and uses the website to educate others about mental illness. One area of the site includes stories about mental illness.
