Are you a young professional who’s just starting out in the workplace? If so, you’re not alone. The graduates from the class of 2020 have faced some of the toughest challenges yet. In particular, the crashing job market and all that comes with it have affected thousands. If you are so lucky as to land a full-time job in these economic conditions, you’ll start out remotely, which will cause you to miss some of the most valuable time networking and meeting new coworkers in-person.

A Quote for Today

Today, I wanted to share a quote that really hit home and stuck with me during the “funk” that I have been in recently:

“I know you’re sad, so I won’t tell you to have a good day. Instead, I advise you to simply have a day. Stay alive, feed yourself well, wear comfortable clothes and don’t give up on yourself. It’ll get better, until then, have a day.”

This quote just reminded me to keep going. It will get better, and until then, just take care of yourself, mentally and physically. Doing small things like wearing comfortable clothes can help get you through the day, and then take things one day at a time. Try not to get ahead of yourself and even if you are having a rough time, just have a day.

What are some of your favorite mental health quotes that you can relate to? What ways can you remind yourself to take one day at a time? How do you discuss this with your child? Does your child put too much pressure on themselves?

This is something that I have recently come across. It is actually quite challenging. For life to be so good. There were days where I never thought life would get better. To look back on the past few days and realize that, finally, you were happy. Continue reading Accepting Happiness

Hello, everyone!

This is my first blog post as a blogging ambassador, and I’m so excited to start blogging! I came across the study in the Pitt+Me Registry, and I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of it. I am passionate about mental health in young adults, as it is something I have struggled with since I was a teenager. In this post, I wanted to write a little about my background and where I am now in my mental health journey. Continue reading Joining the Team

Somewhere along the line you may have changed, you may of stopped being your true self. Maybe you let people stick a finger in your face and tell you that you’re wrong, that you need to change. That you aren’t strong enough, pretty enough, smart enough or even good enough. Even ridiculed you down to the last inch just to make them feel better about themselves. A Fresh Start

Although it’s a time for relaxation, summer can easily feel mundane. For children on summer break, the lack of routine or structure can make the days feel like they’re all blurring together, and for those who work from Monday to Friday, even doing work during this time can feel sluggish and slower because of the heat. This is even more true this summer, where there’s less to do and we’re confined to our homes most of the time.  Continue reading A Fresh Start

I have been struggling lately and I am now not afraid to admit it.

With school, COVID, family and relationship problems, I have been frustrated and stressed with so many different things. I have been mentally and physically exhausted. I finally decided, I need to do something about how I am feeling. Continue reading My First Therapy Session

Does Your Child have a “Song of the Summer?”

It can be a little painful to do so now, but try to think of the memories you have of last summer, the summer before that, and maybe even summers from 20 years ago. Think of the fun, cliche summer memories you have had throughout your life, whether it be in the car listening to the radio, hanging out by the pool, or watching fireworks and lighting sparklers during the muggy nights. Do you have songs attached to them? Continue reading Does Your Child have a “Song of the Summer?”

This Doesn’t Have to be the Worst Year Ever

I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but I’m honestly starting to feel like 2020 is the most horrendous year I have ever experienced. It just feels like everywhere I turn things are going worse than usual and nothing seems to be improving any time soon. The largest fault in that kind of thinking, however, is that it is based on external situations. All this craziness is much crazier on a national level than it is on a personal one. I believe this year, and every single day of it, can be whatever you make of it. Continue reading This Doesn’t Have to be the Worst Year Ever
